Youth Protection Training

As a dedicated volunteer and member of the South Plains Council, I am sure you share my commitment to the personal safety of our youth membership. The Boy Scouts of America has an excellent Youth Protection Training program designed to educate and protect our youth membership and our volunteer leaders. All adult leaders need to complete youth protection training by January 31st or your membership will expire. If your membership expires, then you must submit a new adult leader application and your youth protection certificate to re-register.
This is important to the safety of our youth members. The South Plains Council is committed to helping you achieve this goal. To schedule a unit Youth Protection Training, please contact the South Plains Council office at (806) 747-2631. Adult Leaders will NOT be able to recharter without Youth Protection Training
I am a volunteer leader and like you, I have a hectic personal life and demanding professional of our community. It takes about 10 minutes to set up your MyScouting account online and 20 minutes to take the Youth Protection Training. Please make this a priority.
Yours in Scouting,
Henry C. Low Jr., Youth Protection Training Chairman

2014 Camp Card

The Camp Card Sale is a Council-wide fundraiser sponsored by the  South Plains Council.

The intent of the Camp Card sale is to allow Units to raise funds to pay for their Scouting Program. This includes purchasing camping equipment such as tents, backpacks, and sleeping bags, and to send Scouts to Camp Post Cub Scout Summer Camp, Camp Post Boy Scout Summer Camp and Camp Tres Ritos Boy Scout Summer Camp. The Camp Card sells for $5. Units earn 50% commission, or $2.50, for each card they sell. Unsold cards can be returned. THIS IS A NO RISK FUNDRAISER!

Camp Cards will kick off and can be picked up at your district's Roundtable in March. In order for the South Plains Council to get enough cards for the spring fundraiser, please fill out the commitment form online.

Register Today for Summer Camp in 2014

Now is the time to make your summer camp plans for 2014! The Scouts that came to Camp Post this summer enjoyed swimming in the pool and kayaking at Lake Alan Henry.  Horseback riding and mountain biking will both be available in 2014.
Commissary renovations were completed at Tres Ritos and updating the latrines is next on the list.  We also have expended our older scout program and new backpacking routes are available for the Pecos Packer program. If you would like to attend a South Plains Council camp in next summer, use this FORM and register today for 2014.

If you joined us at camp this past season, let us know what you think. Please follow this link to fill out a Camp Survey from the national office. Help not just our Council but every council develop their program and make camps better for your Scouts.
