About the Cub Scout Program
Scouting is a year-round program uniquely designed to meet the needs of the full family. The program offers fun and challenging activities that promote character development and physical fitness. Family involvement is an essential part of the program, and parents are encouraged to play an active role in making the most of the short time they have to impact the lives of their children.
Cub Scouts have the time of their lives making new friends and learning new things in an environment designed to help them succeed. From building a Pinewood Derby® car to learning how to roast the perfect marshmallow at a family camp out, your child will LOVE being a Cub Scout. So if your child is in the kindergarten through fifth grades, then it’s time to have some fun with the Cub Scouts!
The Pack
-
A pack consists of several dens and meets at least once a month.
-
The Cubmaster leads the overall pack meeting, but each den will have a part in the pack meeting.
-
Occasionally, the pack meeting will have special themes such as Pinewood Derby®, Blue & Gold banquet, or special guest speakers. Other meetings may be devoted to recognizing the Scouts for the projects they have completed by the presentation of awards such as belt loops, pins, patches, or rank advancements.
Dens
-
A den is made up of youth who are the same age and/or grade.
-
The den can meet during normal pack meetings, or plan activities outside of this time such as field trips or other activities.
-
Each den has a den leader, but the den leader shares the planning of the den meeting with the parents.
-
The dens are: Lions, Tigers, Wolves, Bears, Webelos, and Arrow of Light.

Resources for Parents
Cub Scouting is designed to engage the whole family. Working together, you will complete and sign off on the requirements found in your Scout's handbook - from doing a magic trick to creating a fire-escape plan for the family home.
Scouting is a volunteer-led program. Each Pack is sponsored by a local community organization. Parents are welcome and encouraged to get involved as a pack leader or volunteer. Parents and the community organization select pack leaders. Scout leaders have the opportunity to work with Scouts and their families, improving the community through fun activities that teach the values of the Scout Oath and Law. By serving as a leader you can help make a positive difference in the kind of adults Scouts grow into.
Many tools, resources, and trainings are available to assist volunteers in becoming effective leaders and enjoy their experience.
Whether you become a volunteer leader or not, Cub Scouts is a family program, and all parents/guardians are expected to participate with their Scout on this awesome adventure!
