Cub Scouts

Kindergarten to 5th grade

The Pack

The Pack is a volunteer led group that facilitates all the activities. These include building rockets, going to camp, and learning as part of a den!

Dens

Dens allow a Pack to split up and work on age appropriate activities for the Scouts. Through their den, Scouts will learn the Scout Oath and Law, and will learn valuable life skills!

Cost of Scouting

The membership fee to join Cub Scouts is $80 a year with a one-time join fee of $25. Other costs associated are for uniforms, books, camp, activities, etc. and are not included in the membership fee.

When you talk with your Pack volunteers, they will be able to help you understand what your fees go towards. Fundraising, like selling popcorn, is a great way to help keep your costs low.

The South Plains Council also offers camp scholarships so every Scout has the opportunity to participate in council-run programs.

What do Parents/Guardians do?

Cub Scouting is designed to engage the whole family. Working together, you will complete and sign off on the requirements found in your Scout's handbook - from doing a magic trick to creating a fire-escape plan for the family home.

Scouting is a volunteer-led program. Each Pack is sponsored by a local community organization. Parents are welcome and encouraged to get involved as a pack leader or volunteer. Parents and the community organization select pack leaders. Scout leaders have the opportunity to work with Scouts and their families, improving the community through fun activities that teach the values of the Scout Oath and Law. By serving as a leader you can help make a positive difference in the kind of adults Scouts grow into.

Many tools, resources, and trainings are available to assist volunteers in becoming effective leaders and enjoy their experience.

Whether you become a volunteer leader or not, Cub Scouts is a family program, and all parents/guardians are expected to participate with their Scout on this awesome adventure!
