Youth Protection Training

Youth Protection Begins with YOU!
All training in Scouting starts with Youth Protection Training, the most fundamental aspect of the entire Scouting training program.  

Our Council, like all of Scouting, has extensive resources to help you get started with this training in terms of material available in the Council Service Center, online on this site, and links to the training courses available at myscouting.org.

Baloo and Introduction Outdoor Leader Skills Training

BASIC ADULT LEADER OUTDOOR ORIENTATION


This one day course is designed as an introduction to the Cub Scout outdoor program for those leaders who are interested in adding a camping component to their Pack activities. BALOO is an instructor-led course which is conducted at the Council level. BSA's Cub Scout level camping policies will be taught along with the necessary tools to help units carry out a successful camping experience.

Completion of this course is mandatory for at least one adult on a Pack overnighter.

INTRODUCTION TO OUTDOOR LEADER SKILLS

Outdoor Leader Skills will provide Boy Scout leaders with the basic outdoor skills information needed to start and guide a program the right way. Completion of this course is the required outdoor training for all Scoutmasters and assistant Scoutmasters. The skills taught are based on the outdoor skills found in The Boy Scout Handbook.

Completion of this course is necessary for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters to be trained.

Online Training Opportunities

Many types of adult training can now be taken online.  Sign up for an account on the MyScouting.org site to take and record important required training, such as Youth Protection, as mentioned above, and a variety of other online classes related to activities in Scouting.

COPE Training

Our Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience (COPE) course comprises a series of outdoor challenges, beginning with basic group initiative games and progressing to more complicated low-course and high-course activities. Programs are available for both Scout training and for non-Scouting organizational use as a unique way to promote team-building skills, provide unique challenges and build the distinct character of your company or organization.
