Attention Boy Scouts - Next Jamboree in 2017

It is not to late to register - the next National Jamboree won't happen until 2017.  The South Plains Council has (2) Boy Scout slots available for youth that are interested in attending the National Jamboree July 12-24, 2013.  National Jamborees only happen every four years.  For most scouts, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.  Even if you are a Boy Scout in another Council or another State, you are welcome to join our contingent  You can make your own travel arrangements and meet us at the Jamboree!  If you are a local Boy Scout and can travel from Lubbock, Texas - our contingent will tour Washington DC for three days before the nine day Jamboree adventure begins.  The cost is $2,500 and includes the Jamboree fee, airfare to and from Lubbock, TX and three days in Washington DC.  Interested Scouts should contact nathan.baie@scouting.org for details.  For complete Jamboree information visit the event website at www.bsajamboree.org.  

Congratulations David Sharbutt

Pictured here are Chaparral District Distinguished Citizen David Sharbutt and Council President Greg Taylor.  David was honored at a Friends of Scouting Breakfast May 2nd at First Methodist Church in Lubbock.  David is an Eagle Scout and credits his experience in Scouting to his success in the wireless communications industry.  Family and friends from Lubbock and Austin were in attendance to recognize an outstanding community leader.  Congratulations David!

Eagle Scout from Troop 575 Recognized

Eagle Scout Denim Lee was recognized as an Outstanding Eagle Scout by the Chaparral District at a Friends of Scouting Breakfast on May 2nd.  Denim is a member of Boy Scout Troop 575 chartered by the First Baptist Church in Wolfforth, TX.  Denim is one of 38 young men that completed the rank of Eagle Scout in 2012.  Congratulations Denim!

Reserve your Camp Cards

The Camp Card Sale is a Council-wide fundraiser sponsored by the South Plains Council.
The intent of the Camp Card sale is to allow Units to raise funds to pay for their Scouting Program. 

 The Camp Card sells for $5. Units earn 50% commission, or $2.50, for each card they sell.  Units must complete a commitment form in order participate in this exciting fundraiser. For More information on the card click HERE, to see the vendors participating in the program click HERE 


Reserve a slot for Boy Scout Summer Camp in 2013

Reservations are now being accepted for the 2013 summer camp season at Camp Post in Texas and Tres Ritos in New Mexico.  Please complete the Camp Reservation Form and return it to the Lott Service Center with the $150. non refundable deposit.  Make plans now to join us for another great camp season in 2013!
